  • Aloja Airewele trained and worked in Nigeria as a medical practitioner for several years. During this period, he became deeply concerned about the gaps in social services and the development framework necessary for ensuring the equitable and sustainable care of the needy. Dr Airewele initiated health care programs for the marginalized in various areas: care for the elderly in Minna, Northern Nigeria (an old peoples home), personal partnered initiative with an orphanage, and numerous poverty alleviation initiatives. Dr Airewele helped to shape the Alliance for Community Transformation and is presently a Director of the organization.

  • Abimbola Soriyan is an assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering who has worked extensively within and outside Nigeria on projects designed to enhance the availability and accessibility of advanced computer technologies for the health and welfare of the poorest communities. Mrs Soriyan is the Program Coordinator of the Obafemi Awolowo University PACT project.

  • Moremi Onijala is a lawyer and development practitioner, presently working at the Gilchrist Center for Cultural Diversity in Maryland, USA. Mrs. Onijala has a Masters degree in management from the University of Maryland, in line with her desire to engage even more fully with the issues and problems of the development of marginalized individuals and groups. Prior to this, Moremi had many years of experience in the legal field following her first degree at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She was closely involved with the Alliance for Community Transformation from its inception and has been instrumental in shaping and directing its continued growth. She is a Director of the organization.

  • Peyi Soyinka-Airewele has taught Political Science and International Relations for several years and is presently on the faculty of Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York. She received her doctorate from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and studied earlier at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The Executive Director of ACT, Peyi has worked and published in the field of African democratization and development and her activism and research reflects her continuing passion for sustainable social transformation in marginalized and fractured societies. She has most recently been engaged with the struggles for sustainable peace in the Ife-Modakeke communities of South Western Nigeria through the support of the Global Security and Cooperation Program of the Social Science Research Council.
