ICASA 2005 Film Festival: Abuja (December 2005)

The ICASA 2005 Film Festival (IFF) is an event supporting the 14th International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa through the mobilization of cinematic media. It seeks to sensitize, educate, and mobilize individuals and communities in the struggle against HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections by making available cinematic resources that challenge current misconceptions about the disease and create a supportive voice for those who have suffered and are living with HIV/AIDS.

ICASA / PACT-OAU Multimedia Resource Center

The ICASA / PACT-OAU Multimedia Resource Center will be housed at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Nigeria and administered through the office of the Partnership of the Academy and Community, OAU, Ile-Ife Nigeria.

At the present time, there is no university in the country with a substantive multimedia center and none with a multimedia international collection on HIV/AIDS, apart from local recordings of seminars and academic presentations.

The center will be able to offer services and resources on HIV/AIDS, reaching out to local schools, college student populations, local communities and providing films that can be borrowed by activists, organizations and government agencies wishing to mobilize, educate and create a greater public awareness and understanding of AIDS in the country, continent and in other parts of the world.
